💳 Activating and paying for channels

    What "Activation" means

Activation is the payment for the subscription to your channel (messenger). Without an active subscription the channel stops working: you won't be able to receive or send messages.

In plain words: connecting WhatsApp is free. But for it to keep working you pay for a subscription (a plan) for a set period: 1, 6 or 12 months.

📱 How to open the "Activation" section

    1. In the sidebar on the left find 💳 Activation
    2. Click it
    3. The "Channel activation" page opens

🖥️ What you see on the screen

    Four tabs

    TabWhat's inside
Channel activationsThe list of your subscriptions: which channels are paid for and until when
PaymentsThe history of all your payments
InvoicesInvoices for companies paying by bank transfer
Billing detailsYour details used on invoices

    📋 The "Channel activations" tab

At the top there is the "+ Add activation" button and an "Instructions" link.

    2. Click "Pay"
    3. FreedomPay opens: enter your card details (number, expiry, CVV)
    4. Your bank may send an SMS: enter the confirmation code
    5. You'll see ✅ "Activation renewed!"
What if the payment fails? Make sure there are enough funds on the card. Try another card or write to support.

    ⚙️ The "Manage" button

Click "Manage" on any channel and a window with 3 tabs opens:

    The "Info" tab

Plan type (Paid/Demo), status (Active/Expired), WABA balance.

Tops up the balance used for sending messages. Enter the amount → "Continue" → pay → "Balance topped up!" ✅

💡 Faster way: you don't have to go through "Manage". In the activations table, next to the WABA balance, there is a green ➕ button: click it and the top-up window opens right away.

    • ☐ Channel status: 🟢 Active

    📊 Conversation limit

Every plan includes a certain number of conversations per month: these are the unique contacts you talked to during the current 30-day period.

    PlanConversation limit
    SOLO100 conversations/month
    TEAM500 conversations/month
    EMPIREUnlimited

    How it works

    • Incoming messages always reach you, even when the limit is used up. You'll never miss a customer.
    • Outgoing messages are blocked once the limit is reached. You won't be able to send until you move to a higher plan or the counter resets.
    • The counter resets every 30 days, counting from the day the plan was activated.

What you see when the limit is reached

    1. A yellow banner appears in the chat: "Conversation limit reached", with the number and the reset date
    2. The message input becomes inactive
    3. The "Upgrade plan" button opens the plan change dialog

    Two ways out

    • Upgrade the plan: move to a plan with more conversations (for example, from SOLO to TEAM)
    • Wait for the reset: the limit clears automatically at the start of the new 30-day cycle
Where can you see the current usage? Open the channel settings → the "Counter" tab. There you'll find a progress bar and the exact number of conversations used.

💰 WABA balance: what you're charged for

The main thing: the subscription (plan) and the message balance are two separate payments. The subscription gives you access to the platform and its features. The balance covers the actual message traffic in WhatsApp WABA (including Coexistence mode).

    What gets charged

    What happenedIs it charged
An incoming message from a customer✅ A small technical fee for processing the message through the official API
Your reply within 24 hours of the customer's message✅ Only the technical fee: Meta currently charges nothing for such replies
A broadcast or the first message to a customer outside the 24-hour window (a Meta template)✅ Meta's template rate (depends on the category and the country) + the technical fee
A reply sent from the phone in the WhatsApp Business app (Coexistence mode)❌ Not charged: those messages don't go through the API

Why the balance can go negative

    • Charges happen in real time, message by message, not once a month
    • We never block incoming messages, so that you don't lose a customer. That's why a zero balance can go slightly negative
    • Outgoing messages are blocked once the negative balance passes the allowed technical limit. Sending resumes as soon as you top up
    • An active conversation burns through the balance faster than it feels: a few hundred messages a day add up to a noticeable amount over a month
💡 Tip: keep a buffer on the balance. The current balance is shown in the "Activation" section in the "Balance" column, and topping up takes one click: press the green ➕ button next to the balance, or use "Manage" → the "Top up" tab.
