📞 Connecting a Telegram bot
What is a Telegram bot?
A bot is a special Telegram account that works automatically. Your customers write to this bot, and you see and answer their messages in WazzaBee.
Step 1: Create a bot in Telegram (if you haven't already)
- Open Telegram on your phone or computer
- Search for @BotFather (the official Telegram bot for creating bots)
- Tap “Start” (or send
/start) - Send the command:
/newbot - BotFather will ask for the bot's name: enter any name you like (for example:
My Shop) - BotFather will ask for a username: think up a unique name that ends with
bot(for example:myshop_support_bot) - If the username is free, BotFather sends you a message with the token
- The token is a long line that looks like this:
7234567890:AAF1234567890abcdefghijklmnopqrs - Copy this token: you'll need it to connect the bot
Tip: The token is like the bot's password. Never share it with anyone!
Step 2: Connect the bot in WazzaBee
- In WazzaBee click “+ Add channel”
- Choose “Telegram”
- Choose “Bot”
- Paste the token into the “Enter the bot token from @BotFather” field
- Click the “Connect bot” button
- Wait a few seconds. You'll see a spinner with the text “Connecting the bot…”
- If everything is correct, a green check mark appears along with the bot's details (name, username)
- Click “Go to channels”
What can go wrong
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| “Invalid token” | Make sure you copied the token in full, with no extra spaces |
| “Bot already connected” | This bot is already in use. Create a new one in @BotFather |
Once connected, your bot is ready to receive messages. Customers can find it in Telegram by its username and write to it. You'll see their messages in the “Chats” section of WazzaBee.
